Passive fire dampers, IFBMs expand to block their aperture upon exposure to elevated temperatures -- allowing normal air transfer during normal operations and excellent smoke and fire control during emergencies.
Intumescent fire dampers differ from regular fire dampers in that they have no moving parts. Instead, they expand to many times their normal size upon exposure to elevated temperatures indicative of a fire, forming an incombustible mass that seals its aperture, providing an excellent level of fire protection by preventing the spread of fire and hot smoke.
When in their normal state, the IFBM model has a free area of approximately 60% -- allowing the free transfer of air throughout the ventilating system until the damper closes.
With no moving parts and a smooth plastic outer skin, IFBM’s require no maintenance beyond a periodic wipe down with a damp cloth.
Our IFBM range of dampers is available in square/rectangular and circular sizes.
